Jurgen Klopp tells Burnley forward Ashley Barnes he’ll sign him for Liverpool if he scores against Manchester City

Burnley forward Ashley Barnes has revealed that Jurgen Klopp jokingly told him he will be signed by Liverpool if he scores against Manchester City.

Barnes has scored two goals in his last three appearances while Burnley are aiming to put a dent in City’s title push when they visit Turf Moor on Sunday.

And ahead of the game, Barnes claims that he has even received a text message from Klopp which urged him to Liverpool a huge favour in the title race.

‘I’ve had a few messages yesterday from Liverpool fans making a joke of it but it’s all good,’ Barnes told the Burnley Express.

‘It would mean everything [to win against Manchester City].

‘Klopp has even given me a sly text to say that if I score he might sign me for next season – so I might be on the move!

‘But look, for something so silly, it would be a massive thing if I was to score and we were to win.

‘All of us would probably go down in Liverpool history if we helped them out.’
